Snakebite Slot Review

If you’re unfamiliar with Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright, he is a Scottish Darts player that, at the time of this review, is ranked No. 2 on the Order of Merit and is the current World Matchplay Champion. He was also the winner of the 2020 PDC World Darts Championship. So safe to say, he is a big deal in the dart world. Play ‘n GO latched onto this, and no doubt the passion (and crowds) Darts draws in has been a heavy influence for this slots production. Hence, the crowds’ incorporation into the slot itself. Have a read on to see if this is a standalone slot or if it will be carried by the adorning dart fans…

Theme, Design & Gameplay

Snakebite is a slot played on the classic 5×3 grid layout, with 10 fixed paylines which should make it easy to keep track of. However, to get a win, you will need to land at least 3 symbols across a payline.

The grid itself is based at some makeshift darts tournament within a stadium and neon lights galore. Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright is to the right-hand side of the grid, acting as your guide as well as instrumental in the bonus features. The low-paying symbols are standard royals J through to A. A being the highest of the royals, land x5, and it will payout 4.50. The high-paying symbols are different variations of Snakebite himself in colours purple, green, and red. For example, land 5 of the red Snakebite symbol, and you will be rewarded 36.00. All wins pay left to right except SCATTER which pays any. Winning combinations are within the left-most reel.

Other symbols include the ‘Peter Pays’ symbol. Land Peter Pay symbol and trigger the Peter Pays feature, which we will explain further in the slot review’s ‘Bonus Features’ part. Additionally, there is a Snake Snap symbol, which, if you land it will trigger the, you guessed it, the Snake Snap feature! The Snake Snap will duplicate all Instant Prizes available on the reels. The wild is a trophy called the Trophy Wild Scatter. The Trophy acts as both a scatter and wild. As a scatter, it will pay anywhere. As a wild, the Trophy will substitute for any symbol except Dartboard and Special Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright and can pay up to 300.00. Finally, Dartboard symbols can land on all reels bar reel 5, and if you land 2 of these symbols and the Special Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright, you will trigger Snake Spins. However, this can be tricky as the Special symbol is only available on reel 5, so landing all three symbols will take some serious luck.

Bonus Features

With all these symbols and bonus features, you’d be forgiven to expect there to be a large payout at the end. And don’t get us wrong, 6,000x the bet is incredibly generous, and if you’re lucky, you could be walking away with 600,000 coins. However, from a developer such as Play ‘n GO, people expect big names, big games, and big wins. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case with Snakebite. Another feature that doesn’t help is the volatility is medium. Many players will not play Snakebite for that point alone. Aside from that, let’s move onto the bonus feature to assess how Snakebite is as a game overall.

Snake Spins

Whenever x2 Dartboard symbols and a Special Peter ‘Snakebite’ Wright land on the reel, it will trigger Snake Spins. Snake Spins begins with 3 Spins. Watch as the reel expands to 5×5 during this feature. This opens the grid up to start to win some goodies and prizes. The dartboards that triggered the feature will remain on the grid and are transformed into instant prizes. The complete list of prizes up for grabs during Snake Spins are instant prizes, Snake Snap, Peter Pays and Golden Darts.

Instant Prize Cash prize of 1, 2, 5 or 10 x your bet
Snake Snap Duplicates all Instant Prizes with accumulated prize added to Snake Snap symbol
Peter Pays Adds fixed prize up to 10 x stake to the Instant Prizes
Golden Dart Multiplier increases up to 10 x

If any of these symbol’s land during Snake Spin, you will be awarded a further 3 spins, the symbol will stick onto the grid, and it will continue until you run out of free spins.
